The Isabela State University (ISU) team spearheaded by the Water Research and Development Center Director, Dr. Lanie A. Alejo, attended the post-activity meeting and exit conference for the project “Water Security in Cagayan River Basin: Assessment of Impact of Present and Future Climate to Water Resources and Demands for Agriculture, Domestic and Industry Using Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) Model”. The event was held at the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on October 27, 2022.

Other participants of the meeting were Engr. Ferdinand P. Tumaliuan, NEDA 2 Assistant Regional Director, Ms. Mageline S. De Laza, Chief of NEDA 2 Development Research Division (NEDA 2 – DRD), Mr. Anthony James C. Articulo, Assistant Chief, NEDA 2 – DRD, chiefs, and staffs from the different divisions of NEDA 2. The activity started with a message from Dr. Alejo who represented Dr. Orlando Balderama as the WEAP Project Leader. Explicitly, she expressed her gratitude to NEDA’s continuous support to ISU’s research and development activities and hopes for more projects and collaborations together. Engr. Tumaliuan also thanked the team for the success of the project and production of the intended outputs. Moreover, the technology transfer was instigated by the official turnover of the laptop and the scheduling of the knowledge transfer activity through an in-depth training on the use of the WEAP model. Furthermore, the institutionalization setup on water resources assessment and modelling in the Cagayan Valley was also discussed which subsequently led to the agreement of NEDA Region 2 and ISU to craft Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) on the R and D results of the project which accentuate the knowledge transfer commitment of ISU, and on the role of DENR-RBCO as model repository.

The activity concluded with the agreed schedule of submission of the three copies of the printed project final report.
